Chorus One Loom Launch
Yesterday, we announced the launch of our Chorus One Loom validator. We will publish more content about Loom coming shortly, including an in-depth thesis about the project.
While Loom could be a general layer-2 scaling solution for Ethereum, their current focus is on gaming. Personally, I'm not a gamer, but I do suspect that the intersection of blockchain and gaming will become important.
Games today already have their game mechanics. A few years ago, we interviewed Brock Pierce on Epicenter. He had a big business in the past, had 400,000 (!) Chinese people playing video games for a living to earn in-game assets that could then be sold.
Soon you will have blockchain-based assets in-game. We will have AR and VR. The borders between games will become more fluid as people can move assets out (and potentially fork games). DAOs could become widely used for gamers to collectively decide on the future evolution of a game and have joint ownership. Gaming isn't on the radar of regulators like financial services are. We could have novel ideas gain traction and a massive user base without much regulatory encroachment.
I'm excited that we'll be supporting Loom and have a chance to explore the possibilities blockchain opens in games. I suspect, watching this will give us a window into how society will organize at large a few decades from now.
